Boca Raton, Florida

A home is only successful when it is an honest tribute to the personality and style of its owners. And that philosophy is what guided Knowles Design as we worked to create this 5,700 square foot tropical modern home tucked into a parcel of land on the Intracoastal Waterway in Boca Raton, Florida.
Over the course of multiple interviews and meetings, Jennifer Knowles encouraged her clients to be true to themselves, and express their desires and inner sense of style. Having just moved from a 38,000 square foot ocean front estate, one of the client’s main priorities was for the home to feel intimate yet expansive. So there was an incredible focus on space-planning and flow which was challenging considering requirements such as incorporating a full-size Ping-Pong table, entertaining areas including a pub, media room and game room, and four guest bedrooms plus a massive Master Suite. The interior architecture is clean and restrained, as well as the palette which reflected the homeowner’s passion for grey. Following the lead of every good black and white photographer, Jennifer composed a calming interior using tones from the very lightest to very darkest, and added some warmth and contrast with hits of gold. And aside from a specific color story, the homeowner’s debilitating back pain required special attention and customization be given to the design of all the seating. The result is a true reflection of the homeowner’s taste and passions, and a comfortable and joyous refuge that showcases their objects and art.
“I give Jennifer an A+ on the the overall design and collaboration and fulfillment of that design with the architecture and construction teams.”
